  • Odysseus has conquered Troy and wandered the seas for many years. Now he wants to return safely to his home and family
  • The Odyssey (Book #9) pt. 2
  • Odysseus has been held captive for many years by the goddess Calypso on her island. The god Hermes arrives on Calypso's island to tell Calypso the god Zeus has ordered her to release Odysseus. Calypso reluctantly tells Odysseus that he can leave. She gives him a raft on which he can sail to his next destination.
  • The Odyssey (Book #10)
  • A storm blows Odysseus and his men to the land of the Lotus Eaters. Three of Odysseus' men eat Lotus blossoms and do not want to leave. Odysseus forces them back to the boat.
  • The Odyssey (Book #11)
  • Odysseus and his crew explores the land of the Cyclopes, giant one-eyed monsters. A Cyclops named Polyphemus traps Odysseus and his men in a cave. Odysseus gets Polyphemus drunk, ties him down while he sleeps, and blinds him. Odysseus and his men escape by hiding under sheep.
  • Odysseus and his men sail to the island of the goddess Circe. She invites some of Odysseus' men to a rich meal. She serves them a magic potion. The men turn into pigs. Circe changes the pigs back into men at Odysseus' request. The entire crew remains on the island for a year
  • Odysseus and his men travel to the land of the dead. Odysseus meets 3 people who have died. 1st, Elpenor, a former member of his crew asks Odysseus to bury his body. Next, Odysseus sees his mother, he did not know that she had died while he was away. Then, Odysseus talks with Tiresias and he warns Odysseus not to raid the cows of Helios. If he does, his ship and crew will be destroyed. He will return home only after many years alone at sea.
