  • 21st CENTURY LEARNING SKILL -CREATIVITY-
  • Creativity is the formation of ideas in a thought. In the skill concept of the 21st century creativity and inovation are grouped together as one of the important skill sets of future citizens. Innovation is the realization of an idea. When both creativity and innovation are mixed together it opens up many possibilities for students. 
  • What is Creativity?
  • FOUR areas that IMPACT creativity and innovation are : 1) Fluency, 2)Flexibility, 3)Elaboration, 4)Originality
  • Fluency is the ability to generate ideas in a brainstorming session. When students brainstorm together they attack the same problem to come up with a creative solution. Typically is the burst of ideas. There is no censorship in the brainstorming phase, Everything counts. 
  • Flexibility is being able to shift gears.
  • Flexibility is having different ideas, and exploring diverse possibilities. 
  • 
  • Elaboration is signal by describing the exact details, visible features, fine-tuning and fussiness. Elaboration is the finish product. When students Elaborate it encourage them to extend their creative thinking. 
  • Originality is established by the projects uniqueness. The ideas are new and distinguishable. 
  • In a quote mentioned by Robing Fogart in the article The Premier Skill Of The 21st Century he states "Unwrapping creativity, this premiere skill of the 21st Century, is just one step in furthering the cause of creativity and innovation in our schools. Yet, with focused intention, purposeful projects, enlightening performances woven into the curriculum as a matter of course, students can be properly prepared with the tools of thinking attitudes of courage, courageous and a natural and unbreakable will to create. Creativity is the premier skill and the overriding mission for 21st Century learners."
