My Cultural Story
By jharvie, Updated
This storyboard does not have a description.
I grew up on a farm in rural Virginia, my family didn't make much money. My mom stayed at home with my sister and I, and my dad worked on the farm. I was left out from many things other kids did in town.
This is something very personal as it is not understood by many. One of my cultural identities as a grown up is belonging to the LGBT community. I am transgender and was born a girl, but have transitioned into the man I am today. I was different as a kid and never fit in with my peers due to gender "norms". Even now I have experienced discrimination and hatred so I do not usually disclose this identity.
My religious culture and identity have had a huge impact in my life. I managed to maintain my beliefs despite much disdain towards me from my childhood church as I grew up. It is still important to me, and I will not let anyone stand between me and what I believe is right or wrong.
