Storyboard Text

  • We will begin with explaining the difference between kinesis and taxis.
  • Today we will explain some of the concepts of biology.
  • For example, when that bug begins to dry out its activity will increase until it happens to be in a moist area, then it will go back to its regular speed.
  • Kinesis is an increase in random movement that lasts until a favorable environment is reached.
  • For example, when birds migrate to a warmer area.
  • Taxis is a movement in a specific direction, either toward or away from a stimulus.
  • Which are called pheromones.
  • Did you know that there is a chemical substance that an animal or insect produces in order to attract other animals or insects?
  • There are 3 different types of pheromones the trail pheromone, the sex pheromone, and the alarm pheromone.
  • The trail pheromone is when an individual insect or animal leave trail of scent that only the same type insect or animal can smell and follow,
  • This trail usually leads to food that is beneficiary for the species survival.
