I'm going to hunt! Be back soon!
You did what?!?!
October 5, 2006, I was only five years old on that dreadful day; My dad decided, early morning, that he wanted to go hunting. This wasn't a big deal considering we lived in the woods and he went about a mile behind our house every day to hunt.
I was playing in the living room when my mom recieved "the call"... It was my dad. Usually, she sounded happy and enthusiastic when he called. But not this time. And she wouldn't tell me what was going on. She made me stay at my grandma's house that night.
Apparently, my dad had fallen from his tree stand. Even worse, the ambulance wasn't patient enough to wait for him. My mom had to drive his limp body to the hospital by herself.
Due to the fall, my dad had broken his arm, both legs, an ankle, his neck, and three parts of his spine.
My dad remained at St. John's Hospital for 16 days. I stayed with my grandparents a lot during this time while my mom stayed with him, but I got to visit him almost every day.
After the longest 16 days of my life, my dad was able to come home. My uncles had built a ramp onto the front of my house for him and he had to stay in a hospital bed in the living room. It took 6 months of recovery until he was finally able to go back to work.
