On cold night in Africa...
I am a Merchant traveling from South Africa to North Africa trading gold for salt. On my way there I have to pay a tax to the government to go into Ghana.
It is a very dangerous journey. To get to North Africa I have to cross the Sahara desert. This is a very dangerous trip. You need to have lots of food and water or you may not make it.
It was also very dangerous because the trade routes were undefined and it was easy to get lost. There are thieves and robbers out here too.

In order to silent barter I have to leave the amount of salt I want to trade bang drums, wait until morning, then come back and see what they offer, and if I like it I take it if I don't I do it again.
