Storyboard Text

  • Hey Smoky! What brings you in today?
  • Well I'm trying to quit smoking and I was wondering if you could saddle me up with some nicotine gum.
  • That's fantastic. To get started I need to know how many cigarettes do you smoke in a day?
  • I usually smoke about 10 a day.
  • Ok so we can get you started with 2 mg pieces. You chew one piece at a time every 1-2 hours, and up to 6-15 pieces per day...
  • Are there any side effects?
  • Good question, you might experience some mouth soreness, or a slight stomach ache. Also, while you are quitting, you might be a little ornery (irritated easily), experience some weight gain, or even get a little depressed.
  • That's nothing I can't pony up to. Will not smoking effect how awesome I currently am?
  • You will look way cooler as a non-smoker than a smoker. Also, if you ever need to talk outside of our visits, i am here. Or if you would like there is a quitplan available in Minnesota. Let's set up our first check back visit in 1 week to see how you are doing.
  • That sounds great!
  • When it comes to your health, don't horse around. Visit your doctor or pharmacist right away. 1-888-354-PLAN or
  • In the following 12 weeks, smokey the horse successfully quit smoking and began training for the Kentucky derby. He had slightly less luck with the fillies.
