  • Before the Battle
  • The British soldiers were led by general John Burgoyne.
  • The British were making their way to Saratoga to battle American soldiers on september 19.
  • First battle
  • The British were stoped 10 miles short of Saratoga by the colonists. They fought at a clearing known as the freemans farm.
  • The American soldiers were led by Horatio Gates.
  • second battle
  • On october 7 the colonists had finally won and the battle at Saratoga it was when America started taking back the war.
  • 90 Americans died and 440 British soldiers died in the end.
  • The battle at saratoga was also known as the turning point in the American Revolution.
  • The British and American soldiers met at Saratoga a short while after Fort Ticonderoga had been captured so the American soldiers had some steam to blow off on the British.
  • In the first battle at Saratoga the British soldiers had won but paid a costly price for their victory.
  • The second battle at Saratoga was known as the battle of Bemis heights. And America had achieved a valuable victory over the British.
