  • There are two main characters in Scarlet Ibis, the brother and Doodle. They live on a farm near a swamp/forest.
  • Climax
  • The conflict involves the brother trying to accept Doodle and help him be a normal member of society.
  • Falling Action
  • This part of the rising action is when a Scarlet Ibis swoops down from a tree and falls into Brother's and Doodle's house, where it dies seconds later for Doodle to watch.
  • Resolution
  • The climax of the story is when a storm approaches while the brother and Doodle are on their way home. The brother starts to run home, but Doodle can't and gets struck by a falling tree.
  • The falling action is when the brother returns to the forest to pick up Doodle, but realizes that Doodle is dead. Struck by the three that hit him.
  • The resolution is when the brother shouts "DOODLE!" into the sky, in guilt of leaving him to die.
