We are all made of dust. This is Red Dust Lane. This lane has seen all shades of red, from human passion to revolution. Something new is afoot.
Red Dust Lane sits in the very center of Shanghai. It is the cultural heart of this city.
This is the evening talk-Red Dust Talk.
Red Dust Lane would see yet another red revolution: The Communist takeover. In 1949, Chiang Kai-shek resigned as head of the Nationalist party. Shanghai was to be one of the last strongholds of the Nationalists. Panic spread throughout the city, and those of wealth fled Shanghai.
Others, who had no choice but to stay, made due with surviving how they could. They adapted, and met the growing tide of Communism with an open mind.
