an army of Mexican infantry men attacked the Alamo under the command of Santa Anna. the constructed ladders to scale the walls. the reason this church was so important is it's strategic position. it is settled in northern mexico (modern day Texas)
the outer positions were the first to be over run. the Texans fought bravely but were swarmed by the better trained and outfitted Mexican army.
though many Texans were murdered they took many Mexicans with them. Santa Anna disided to create a wall of living soldiers and kill everything in it's path. he could have waited for his bigger artillery guns to come and bombard the mission be he disided a slaughter would be better.
the Mexican forces breached the wall and entered the fort. the Texans continued the fight with help from men like Jim bowie and davy crocket.
Jim bowie even thought he was ill fought to the death from is cot. he died still holding his weapons.
and sadly even the great davy crocket was shot and killed by a Mexican bullet. the bodys of these brave texeners were burned and the ashed burried in unknow places. this was to send terror to the texans but it became there battle cry.
