Ricky the Rain Drop's Life in Fruitvale
By: Ms. Fields
The cycle starts with a me, Ricky, on a plant near Fruitvale duck pond ~LOCATION #1: on plant, ~FORM: Liquid (droplet)
I start to get hot and so I evaporate into water vapor. Interception (the capture of water by leaves and plants) traps me and when I come off a plant the process is called transpiration (the water within a plant is released into the atmosphere). ~LOCATION #2: Atmosphere ~FORM: Gas
Then, in the form of water vapor I rise up, and turn into a cloud (visible water or ice in the atmosphere) through condensation (the process when a gas turns into a liquid). ~LOCATION #3: Atmophere FORM: Cloud (Liquid)
The condensation creates a cloud resulting in precipitation putting me in the FORM of snow, sleet, rain, or hail.
Then I come down and seep into the soil creating ground water. Then I move down a Fruitvale mountain creating a surface runoff. ~LOCATION #4 in the soil FORM: Ground water (Liquid) ~LOCATION #5 Fruitvale Mountain FORM: Surface Runoff (Liquid)
For location 6 I want to end up back in the ocean near the beach with the flower where I first started...... how could that happen?
