The narrator is by himself thinking about his lost love. When he hears a noise.
" 'Tis some visitor tapping at my chamber door..."
The narrator goes to the door and sees no one is out there. Yet he hears a faint cry of Lenoir. A Raven appears and flies into his home.
When the Raven enters the home it sits on the bust. The Raven then begins to tell prophecies by answering his questions. His only answer being "Nevermore."
The narrator gets aggravated at the Raven's answers, and tries to get it to leave.
After the Raven says it is staying, the narrator feels defeated and is back in his depressed state.
