In 1803 Thomas Jefferson hired Lewis & Clark to find a route to the Pacific Ocean.
On May 14, 1804 Lewis and Clark set sail on their expedition.
In 1804 Lewis & Clark meat Sacagawea and her husband a french explore. Sacagawea went with Lewis&Clark on their journey because she knew the land well and she was a translator.
On their journey they were in need of horses, so they went to the Shoshone tribe. Sacagawea recognized the chief as her brother and they were able to get the horses from him.
Lewis and Clark had trouble climbing the Rocky Mountains but pushed through and continued their journey to the Pacific Ocean.
After a year and a half Lewis & Clark finally made it to the Pacific Ocean in November of 1805
