  • Now, let's look at a simple problem: x^2-2x-4=0 a= 1 b= -2 c= -4
  • So, all you have to do is substitute in the numbers with it's corresponding variable.
  • x=opposite of b that would be a positive 2. It would look like: 2+or- √ (2)^2-4(1)(-4) x= _________________________ 2(1)
  • Oh...
  • Then you just simplify : 2+or- √ 20 x=________________________ 2
  • 2+or-2√ 5 =____________________ 2
  • =1+or- √ 5
  • Now, the process for finding the discriminant is the same but the equation is: b^2-4ac If positive: 2 Real numbers If negative: 2 Complex numbers If zero: 1 answer
  • I hope that helped you!
  • Yeah, thank you!
