I'm herbicide and I'm sprayed on crops to slow the growth of weeds.
I'm pesticide and I'm sprayed to kill insects that live on plants.
But herbicide and pesticide have a negative side. They (along with other chemicals) get caught in water runoff in the dirt and go back into our main stream of water. They are hazardous to both plants and animals.
Hi, I'm fertilizer and I am also a contaminant. Farmers spray me on plants to provide nutrients. Also, I can increase crop production. I'm used in gardens too.
Fertilizer has the same affect as herbicide and pesticide with water. It gets caught in run off and gets into our water cycle.
You might think this is normal rain, but it's not. It's called "acid rain".
Acid rain: When fossil fuels release chemicals into the air, it reacts with water vapor. Then it falls like rain water, except filled with chemicals. Acid rain causes many organisms harm that live in water. Fossil fuels come from car engines, factories, etc.
