The story begins with Montezuma looking into a mirror on the crown of a bird. In it, he sees strange looking men riding strange looking deer, he knows that these people have the intent of destruction. He was right, the Spanish had been raiding people along the coast.
We need to relocate ourselves.
While Cortez was raiding, he came across a village of Maya. In order to keep their lives, they gave the Spanish women as slaves, one of which would be a great ally, Malinalli. She could already speak Nhuatl and Maya and would be a great translator.
Cortez reached the Aztecs and they saw all of his belongings and stared with amazement. When Cortez saw this he decided to give a demonstration of his guns. When the natives heard the shots they fell to the ground in sheer terror.
When Cortez' crew first made it to Tenochtitlan, they were led into the city by Aztecs and showered with riches. As they made it further into the city, they were showered with more by Montezuma himself. Soon after this, Cortez took Montezuma into house arrest and made him a puppet. The Spaniards then carved christian images into the pyramids.
When an arrest party came to take Cortez, they began to fight. In this fight many Aztec died and many conquistadors died too. In this, Montezuma was slain and there was a break out among the Aztecs.
Once the fighting had mostly ceased and a new king was elected, the new king went up to Cortez and said what can I pay you for you have destroyed my city and killed my people. The Spaniards then looted the city and fled.
