  • Homer was a blind bard or professional traveling storyteller. He told amazing stories and wrote two epics or long poems be written down. The one we will be showing summary of is the Odyssey.
  • After the fall of Troy Odysseus begins his journey home as king of Ithaca
  • After leaving Troy they traveled to many islands. One of them was the island Cyclopes. On his way there Odysseus lost some of his men on the other islands. They were killed by the natives. On Cyclopes the Cyclops cornered Odysseus into a cave. They blinded him with a stake (not the meat) and fled under his herd of sheep.
  • Odysseus went to the under world to find a prophet to find his way home.
  • The other epic he wrote was called the Iliad. homer was a major part of Greek literature.
