  • Act III Scene 1
  • Tybalt, I'll fight on Romeo's behalf...A plague on both your houses!!!
  • Tybalt, I love you even though you don't know why I do.
  • Romeo is a coward if he doesn't fight me!
  • Scene 2
  • Oh how sad, Tybalt was such a good guy. Oh, boohoohooo
  • Did Romeo kill my cousin?! Oh, Romeo, I love you!
  • Scene 3
  • Let's enjoy ourselves while we can be together.
  • Juliet, it was an accident. He killed Mercutio...
  • Tybalt challenges Romeo to a duel but Mercutio intercepts him and they fight...leading to Mercutio's death. Romeo reacts with rage, murdering Tybalt and finds himself banished by Prince Escalus.
  • Scene 4
  • I have so many tears for my lost cousin and banished husband!
  • Juliet will get over Tybalt's death if she gets married to Paris on Thursday.
  • Juliet waits for Romeo to come to her room for their wedding night. The Nurse comes in crying and confuses Juliet--Juliet finds out that Romeo isn't dead, but Tybalt's murderer.
  • Scene 5
  • No thank you, I don't want to marry Paris. And if you try to force me, I will need to see Friar Lawrence first.
  • Listen to your father and marry Paris!
  • Romeo thinks banishment is worse than death but the Friar announces the plan: Romeow will sneak into Julie's room to have a wedding night and then escape to Mantua upon which the Friar will announce the marriage and all will be well.
  • ACT III Summary
  • The act begins with Romeo and Juliet happy and in love--even if they're separated because of circumstances. Things quickly change when Tybalt won't take no for an answer and accidentally kills Mercutio under Romeo's arm. Romeo's temporary insanity leaves Tybalt dead, too. Romeo sees the Friar and they decide Romeo should go have a wedding night with Juliet before being exiled to Mantua. Juliet's parents try to force Juliet to marry Paris in two days to help her get over Tybalt's death. When she says no, her father becomes enraged and threatens to disown her if she doesn't marry Paris. Juliet goes to see Friar Lawrence and tells him to come up with a plan to get her out of marrying Paris or she will kill herself.
  • Juliet is crying up in her room and her parents think it's over Tybalt's death. Lord Capulet thinks marrying Paris soon will get her over her sadness. Capulet makes the plan that Juliet will marry Paris on Thursday.
  • I can't wait to marry Juliet, my love
  • Romeo and Juliet awaken after their wedding night and he flees to Mantua. Lady Capulet tells Juliet she must marry Paris this Thursday but when Juliet says no thank you, Lord Capulet becomes furious and threatens to disown her if she doesn't marry him. Juliet plans to go see Friar Lawrence to get his advice or threatens to kill herself.
  • You will marry Paris in two days or be kicked out on the streets!
