About the Marathon, a battle in the Persian War
The Battle of Marathon
Greece will be MINE!
The Battle of Marathon was one of many battles in the Persian wars.
King Darius was ruling Persia at the time. He'd already conquered many lands, but he wanted Greece.
VICTORY FOR GREECE!
So in 490 BCE, Darius invaded Greece, with his general, Datis in charge of the army. They led around 90,000 men.
And the Greeks had only 10,000 or 20,000 men.
However, the Greeks had longer spears, heavier swords, better armor, and lots of skill . . .
. . . . and against all odds, Greece won the victory.
