Jonathan Wasserman 3/2/17 This cartoon represents the major people during the Italian Revolution. During the Italian Revolution, Victor Emmanuel was the man that united the entire country and became the KING of Italy. He is represented by the black king chess piece. Giuseppe Mazzini was the man who made many speeches and united the people of Italy. Mazzini also created "Young Italy". He wanted a Republic for the Government; however, he had to give up on that ideal in order to fully unite Italy. Giuseppe Garibaldi was the man who just kept fighting. Giuseppe Garibaldi was known as the sword of the revolution for his strong and swift attacks on his opponents. He learned many techniques such as guerrilla warfare, and he created a group known as the Red Shirts. He wanted a monarchy for the Government.
Jonathan Wasserman 3/2/17 Finally, Camillo di Cavour was known as the Brain for his strategic ideas during the revolution. He was known as the Brain of the Italian Revolution and he wanted a monarchy as the type of Government. (The Heart is higher than the Sword Hilt because Mazzini liberated the Northern half of Italy and Garibaldi liberated the Southern half).
