Life in prison
Before the banker could finished his task on executing the lawyer when he sleeps, he spots a note written by the lawyer that stated how the lawyer despises human life and how he intends to leave before the bet ends. Reading the note left the banker feeling guilty.
The banker is no longer obligated to execute the lawyer anymore because he gets to keep his money. He puts the letter that the lawyer had written in his safe so no one would suspect him for any crime.
There were two major conflicts and different types of conflicts in this story. An internal conflict in the story was when the lawyer stayed in solitary confinement for fifteen years. The lawyer has many conflict, issues, and problems with himself while he was in there. An external conflict in the story was when the lawyer and the banker made a bet proving tat imprisonment for life is better than capital punishment. Unlike the first conflict, this is includes a person creating the issue, problem, or conflict in the story and no themselves.
