  • Down in Atlanta, there was a boy named Thomas. He lived in the rough part of town. He is under the care of his aunt. Thomas, sadly, he was not in a good situation right now. They are not doing too good with money. Both of his two parents are both absent from his life. His Dad was shot and killed when he was only 3, and his mom was put in jail for suspicious drug activity when he was only 8.
  • Triumph Over Hardship
  • Thomas was only a Junior in high school. He has straight A's and he even has good friends too. Thomas is also on the school basketball team. Sadly he wasn't too good at it. He would sometimes struggle while playing it though. Everyone on his team is good except him. The bad thing is that in five months, they are going up against one of the best teams. The good thing is that there is a 350,000 dollar prize for it. They are going to need every team mates best effort or else.
  • Happy Ending
  • Luckily for him someone offered to tutor him in basketball. He was someone on him team that offered to help him with basketball. So every after school day, Thomas and his tutor would play basketball. They do 1 on 1 lessons and other stuff. Thomas would always struggle with his tutor, but eventually he started to get better over time. They would hang out too. Eventually, Thomas got so good at basketball that he even surpassed his tutor. This is when Thomas knew that he was ready for the game.
  • Conclusion
  • It's been five months, and Thomas is very confident about this game. He is also very nervous at the same time though. The game has just started, and Thomas go's right in. In the 2nd quarter, Thomas's team is losing, but in the fourth quarter, the score is close. Thomas's team has 40 while the other team has 42. It's all about to come to an end in 10 sec. Thomas steals the ball and he makes a three pointer for the win. Luckily Thomas's team won by only one point.
  • Thomas couldn't believe his self. He is so surprised that him and his team actually won. Everyone on the team praised Thomas for the three pointer he made. Thomas knew his whole team had to split the money together Everyone on the team split up the money, but they all gave it to Thomas to help him and his aunt out. Thomas was so grateful for the money. His aunt ran out the audience and gave Thomas a big hug. Thomas received so many college invitations. Thomas knew he had a big future planned for him.

Thomas never gave up though. He kept trying and trying until he got better. Thomas triumphed over his hardships.
