Storyboard Text

  • People called him Moishe the Beadle, but he was my friend. He was a foreigner so he was told to leave by the city of Sighet.
  • Moishe the Beadle
  • Spring 1944, I was the little boy named Elie Wiesel that noticed that Moishe the Beadle was back.
  • Hi, I'm Elie Wiesel and I noticed that you were expelled from Sighet. What are you doing back?
  • I'm Moishe the Beadle and yes I was expelled from this city, but I survived the attack in the city we were sent to. So I came back to warn the city of Sighet.
  • Warn Sighet, about what!?
  • I came to warn you about the German soldiers. They are not as safe as this community thinks. They need to leave when they have a chance.
  • But why should we leave, and where would we go?
  • I don't know where you would go; but the people need to leave because where I came from babies were used as targets for machine guns and the Gestapo would shoot any Jew. They don't like Jews, son.
  • That's silly. My father says we are safe.
  • Ok Elie go home, and if you are wise you will believe me. Spread the word and save everyone you love.
  • Sure Moishe the Beadle, I'll tell my father.
