The king is conducting business as usual when the sage enters the castle. He requests the king's son, Rama, to accompany him on a sacrifice journey. The king reluctantly agrees and sends his other son, Lakshmana, along with them.
The Sage, Rama, and Lakshmana leave for their journey to complete their sacrifice.
They enter a very arid, dry desert and soon the two boys become uncomfortable.
The sage teaches the boys a mantra that turns the climate into a cool, comfortable setting for them.
They encounter a demon called Thataka. Rama has to fight her so they can continue to the sight for the sacrifice.
Rama's victory over Thataka begins his life off destroying demonry and evil. The gods show their symbols in the sky to recognize his achievement.
