  • In the exposition the story starts off in a dark, scary, cold park. It is early spring and in the evening during the week. The main characters in the beginning are Ian and sarge(homeless man).
  • *Climax
  • Ian's walking to do his volunteer hours and went down a path and a mugger came behind him and was going to take all his stuff but Sarge was in the back and followed them in case anything happened.
  • Falling Action
  • Ian has to talk to sarge for his school work to get bonus points and he goes to the club and talks to sarge about him being a soldier. Sarge tells Ian about Rwanda and since Ian doesn't know sarge gets mad and leaves.
  • Resolution
  • Ian tries to confront Jack about his drinking and about him stopping while jack is drunk and when Jack finishes the bottle him and Ian are kind of yelling at each other. jack gets mad enough and throws the bottle past Ian and it breaks and jack said that he was like the bottle because its shattered and you can't put it back together.
  • Ian goes to confront jack again but this time he told him a story about a man on a beach and thousands of star fish along the side of the beach. in the distance he see's a boy picking up star fish and throwing them back into the ocean. Ian was trying to tel jack that every life matter's so every life Jack saved in Rwanda made a difference.
  • Ian goes to the club and helps clean up and get ready when Mac calls him and Ian goes and see's him and he's there with a cake beside him. then Mac gives Ian a chip that was from Jack that's for 2 weeks clean from drinking.
