  • We don't serve niggers here.
  • May we be served.
  • Will you use the prestige of your office to appeal tot eh citizens to stop racial discrimination.
  • I appeal to all citizens to end discrimination, to have no bigotry  No bias, No hatred
  • The scene explains local businesses refusing to serve colored people. John Lewis talks about how after desegregation, this was a way whites people got back at the black people. He also talks about refusing to leave the seats at the counter because they wouldn't leave until they were served(boycott).Which was part of on going boycott they assembled.
  • This is a major changing point in the book because desegregation was occurring fast. It was giving blacks more rights and it made white people nervous, furious, and racist.
  • Towards the end of the book John Brown explained everything to the young boys that went to go visit on a tour. The mayor agreed to stop racial discrimination and to move towards of a more integrated nation.
