Jacob led the Israelites to Egypt where there was grain. The pharaoh was mistrustful of the Israelites because they practice monotheism which was a different believe system than the Egyptians.
Moses grew up in the palace but wanted to free the Israelites from slavery. The pharaoh refused to let Moses' people go.

The Israelites stopped at Mount Sinai. Moses went up the mountain to meet God. Moses returned with the laws called today The Ten Commandments.
One of the first cities they conquered was Jericho. Then they went on to conquered small kingdoms. Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin stayed in the south near the Death Sea so they could conquered Canaan.
