Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • In the beginning of the story, the narrator is introduced and it is apparent that he has a problem. He is a man that wants to prove his sanity by telling the readers a story about how he killed an old man that has an eye like a vulture.
  • Climax
  • The man with the eye like a vulture lives in the same building as him and the narrator is absolutely frightened when the vulture eye gazes upon him. He is very descriptive about the eye and says how it is a vulture's eye with a film over it.
  • Falling Action
  • Over the span of a few days the narrator has decided that he will kill that old man to rid his life of that eye. Each night at around midnight he would creep into the old man's room and shine a lantern towards the eye. He is waiting for the time to strike.
  • Resolution
  • Tick! TIck! Tick!
  • On one of his midnight stalkings, one of the narrator steps made a creak which woke up the old man. He did not move an inch for an hour until the old man was catching on so he let out a screech and attacked him by smothering him with his mattress.
  • He prided himself of how cunningly he concealed the body. He removed floor boards and put his body there while making it seem like the attack never happened. A neighbor heard a ruckus so the police was called to check it out.
  • The narrator was extremely arrogant in not being caught. He gave seats to the officers and he himself sat above the body. It was all working well until a ticking in his head drove him crazy and to confession. He believes it was the old man's heart.
