  • The Scarlet Ibis By: James Hurst
  • (595)
  • You're nothing, Doodle. You can't even run without falling to the floor!
  • I'm sorry, brother.
  • (596)
  • A few days later, after realizing that Doodle will be my clingy brother forever, I had decided to bring him along to Old Woman Swamp for the first time.
  • (597)
  • I'm having fun too, Doodle.
  • I'm having so much fun, brother! Thank you for bringing me here.
  • (604)
  • We began to head home through the green, short grass and as it started to rain we decided to run. The further I ran away, Doodle's appearance started fading away until some time passed and i still did not see him so i decided to go back.
  • (604)
  • I found Doodle laying awkwardly, with his head thrown back and his little legs, bent sharply at the knees. I stood there crying, holding my fallen scarlet ibis.
  • Why didn't i have an unconditional love for you no matter what your conditions were.
