  • This picture shows how busy the north cities were. Cities got busy and so many people by the industrial revolution.
  • Immigrants went to the north looking for work.
  • Slaves were free in the north.
  • In the south slaves worked in the cotton feilds. Most of the money in the south was made by selling cotton.
  • The southerners wanted to speed up the making of cotton so planterss used labor. There were about 698,000 enslaved african americans.
  • Not all 4 billion of the african amercans in the the south were enslaved. 6% were free the other percent bought their freedom.
