Storyboard Text

  • Hey, what's photosynthesis?
  • Photosynthesis is the way we live, it creates the CO2 and the glucose we need. It also produces 02, which we need to give to other life forms to live.
  • Well we use the energy from sunlight. Using the light-dependent reaction, the chlorophyll in us absorbs energy from sunlight, then the energy is transferred to molecules that carry energy, they're called ATP molecules.
  • Wow, that's so weird, I've never heard of that! Tell me more.
  • How do we create CO2 though?
  • We use light-independent reaction or cellular respiration. The first thing that happens is that CO2 gets added, and we then begin to create a cell of glucose, we use that for food.
  • So, is that all or is there an equation to it?
  • In-fact, there is one. it is 6 carbon dioxide + 6 water + light energy + 6 glucose + 6 oxygen. Or the more scientific one is 6CO2 + 6H2O ->->->-> C6H12O6 + 6O2
  • Whoah! I can't remember a time where I learned more about myself!
  • We also have a chemical equation for cellular respiration, it is the same thing but backwards. 6O2 + C6H2O6 ->-> 6CO2 + 6H2O + energy & heat.
  • Is that all?
  • Wow, thanks for everything you've taught me!
  • One last thing, photosynthesis takes place inside the mitochondria.
