Ophelia drowns and it is suspected that she killed herself by falling in he brook. When the queen tells Laertes this he is heartbroken and loses focus on the plan to kill Hamlet.
Osric comes in to where Hamlet and Horatio are talking. He informs Hamlet of the wager that the king has placed on him. The plan is to have Hamlet and Laertes fight to settle what has happened between them.
Hamlet and Laertes begin to duel. The plan is for Laertes to kill Hamlet using the poisoned sword. Laertes cuts Hamlet, Gertrude drinks the poison, Hamlet cuts Laertes, and then Hamlet kills the king by forcing him to drink the poison. Hamlet ends up dying last. Most of the main characters ends up dying by the end of the play.
