We lived in Sighet, Transylvania in 1941. It was peaceful until we were forced to move into ghettos, and eventually out of Sighet all together. Just because of our religion.
Forced onto train cars packed by the hundreds. We went into the concentration camps. Never seeing my mother or sister again.
My father and I suffered for many days. We were beat, starving, and sick all the time. We had to witness the hanging of a young man, and it was awful. We moved to a few different camps.
Then we moved to this camp. This was the last camp that we moved to. My father died here. And then...
The Americans came and we were liberated. All we could think anbout was getting food.
A few days later, I ended up in the hospital about to die from food poisoning.
