Storyboard Text

  • Steps 1 and 2 of the Water Cycle
  • Steps 1 and 2 of the Carbon and Oxygen Cycle
  • Oxygen (CO2) that was produced by plants
  • Steps 1 and 2 of the Nitrogen Cycle
  • During the water cycle, evaporation and transpiration must occur first. Molecules of liquid water absorb energy and change to a gas state over bodies of water and from plants. After that, condensation occurs. Gas changes to a liquid water to form clouds.
  • Step 3 of the Water Cycle
  • Plants use water (H20), sunlight, and carbon dioxide (CO2) and use it to make sugar/glucose (C6H12O6). Plants produce oxygen (O2) as a waste product and animals take in oxygen and sugar/glucose for energy in Cellular Respiration.
  • Step 3 of the Carbon and Oxygen Cycle
  • During the nitrogen cycle, nitrogen fixation focuses on the small nodules that are typically found on legume roots. It fixes free nitrogen from the air directly into simple compounds that the plants can use. It goes from nitrogen gas (N2) to ammonia (NH3). After that, nitrification occurs. This means that ammonia is converted into nitrite ions that the plants can take in as nutrients.
  • Step 3 of the Nitrogen Cycle
  • Nitrogen gas
  • Precipitation and runoff occur next. Drops of water vapor become heavier and fall from the clouds (rain/snow/sleet/hail) and then it is found in the soil as it infiltrates it to full capacity.
  • Animals release carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) as a waste product.
  • Waste product from H2O and CO2
  • Decomposer bacteria coverts the nitrogen-rich waste compounds into simpler ones and convert the simple nitrogen compounds back into nitrogen gas.
