  • Slavery
  • These Are Not for me but for the The slaves so they can have their liberty since the Government will not give it to them
  • John Brown! Drop Your weapons!
  • States Rights
  • Only the government can make such large decisions!
  • Hey! Stop Your Disturbing the Peace! cool it and take your argument else where, the law is the law!
  • More state independence stop the tariff!!
  • compromises
  • We agree on the Missouri Compromise
  • The North did not want slavery like the south did, so the south could not sell goods to other countries, and the southerners wold buy goods from the north. Some of the events that intensified slavery is the fugitive slave law and the Dred Scott case.
  • People Involved in the fight over slavery
  • Abolish Slavery!!
  • The south wanted states to make their own decisions (anti-federalists) and the north wanted the national government to have lots of power.
  • Pride to ones region (sectionalism)
  • Great! just sign here.
  • We want to enlist because we´re proud to be southerners!
  • The compromises were just temporary, like putting a band aid on a bullet wound, like the fugitive slave act, which kept the south from losing slaves and gave the north California.
  • Georgia´s involvement in compromises
  • did you know Georgia just accepted the compromise of 1850 because we got the fugitive slave act?
  • Abraham Lincoln And the Republican Party were Major Abolitionists and were very influential figures in the north while people like Alexander Stephen and Jefferson Davis were Pro slavery. The democratic party split into two separate factions the north democratic party and the south democratic party
  • Sectionalism Played a large role later when the war started because the southerners in particular where proud of their area of the country and felt loyalty to the south first and america second. Nullification also played a role as it gave the north an actual issue not just disagreement because nullification Was when the plantation owners ignored tariffs which was a major cause.
  • Georgia was first involved in congress and the congressmen pushed the 3/5th´s compromise and they supported the compromise of 1850 because of the fugitive slave act. But When Abraham Lincoln a prominent abolitionist was elected the south feared that he would take away their right to own slaves which caused them to secede.
