Hit to the Head, Hit to the Heart

One minute I was about to get control of the puck and the next minute I was lying on the ice seeing stars. My coach was standing over me asking if I was ok. I was checked into the boards by an opponent and the pain was more intense than I thought was possible.
Leo, are you ok?
As soon as he could, my Dad took me to the ER. I had a CT scan and spent what felt like an eternity being looked at by doctors. Then they told me I couldn't play hockey for the rest of the season. They also said I couldn't go to school or do anything for a long time.
So now I'm living with pain, going to almost daily doctor appointments and I can't do anything enjoyable without a constant headache. I'm just ready for this to be over, and I think everyone else is too.
I wish I could read a book...
