Rowdy punches Junior after hearing about how he is going to an all white school. Junior demonstrates growth by not fighting back and not letting Rowdy's words impact his decision.
When Rowdy's dad answered the door, he made some inappropriate comments to Junior. Junior demonstrates growth by controlling his emotions by ignoring the comment, and responding politely.
As Junior ran onto the court, someone in the crowd threw a quarter at him. Junior demonstrates growth, by his ability to keep his anger in check, and walks away from the court without fighting.
