The assassination came from a plan to kidnap Lincoln to trade the north for their POWs. But the plan merged into an assassination
John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Lincoln on April 15, 1865, Peterson House in Washington D.C. Booth went up behind Lincoln and shot him in the back of the head.
After shooting Lincoln, Booth Jumped on the stage and broke his leg. Limping, Booth fled to a Virginia farm to hide from the Union Soldiers. But 12 days after the assassination, he was found and killed by the soldiers
