  • You must never stop dreaming. Face reality, yes. But don't stop with the way things are. Dream of things as they ought to be. Dream of peace. Peace is rational and reasonable. War is irrational and this age is unwinnable.
  • Jesse Jackson is a civil rights activist. When he was at Greensboro,to attend college, in North Carolina he joined the Congress of Racial Equality and participated in marches and sit-ins. After graduation, he began divinity studies at the Chicago Theological Seminary and worked to organize student support for Martin Luther King Jr.In March of 1965 he went to Selma, Alabama to march with King.

  • In 1972 he lead a group to the Democratic National Convention that managed to drive out Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. In 1984 he Democratic presidential nominee. After making a comment to a reporter and his relationships with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan it lead to a bit of controversy during the campaign. Even though he lost the race, he still inspired many African Americans to not give up even when there is still trouble.
  • Jesse Jackson was an important part of U.S history because he fought for African American rights. During the Persian Gulf War he even helped free 3 people who were held hostage. In other words he helped free people and fight for equality and rights.
