  • After Geroge Washington left office, French began seizing U.S. Adams hoped talks would restore calm.
  • Ok, we will surrender, don't kill us please
  • (France Ship) You guys, come over here, or else we will bom all your goods
  • Later on, John Adams sent Charles Pinckney, Elbridge Gerry and John Marshall to request a meeting.
  • I hope sending those three men to go talk to the French government for peace would restore calm.

  • Three French were sent to meet them, known as X,Y and Z. They said if America agrees to loan them 10 million and pay the minister a bribe of $250,000. But the Americans refused.
  • In 1798 Federalist Congress passed the Alien and Sedition Acts to silence the Democatic-Republican immigrants.
  • The Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans battled at homeland, The United States made peace with France.
  • The two sides immeditely signed the Convention of 1800, this set the peace on the ocean and with France.
