Funny Feeling in my Tummy
By: Julia Macchione
Aly Smith is the new girl in town. Moving into a new community is very hard especially when you are about to start school in a few days and doesn't know anyone. Aly is getting used to the area, she really likes going to the park, but is sad she has no friends and will be starting grade four soon.
Today is the first day of school and Aly has very mixed emotions about it. She’s very excited to make new friends but also very nervous because she is shy and thinks she won’t fit in.
Aly walked into the classroom with a smile on her face and butterflies in her stomach and took a seat at her desk. As the day goes on Aly realizes the new school isn’t bad, she really likes it and everyone is friendly. A few days have gone by and Aly still hasn't made a single friend. She isn’t getting enough sleep or eating right.
Later that week before the bell is about to ring for recess the teacher announces that after recess they will have a work period and will be choosing their own partner. Aly’s smile drops and she gets a weird feeling in her tummy, she sinks in her seat and closes her eyes
The teacher dismisses the class and notices Aly hasn't moved from her seat, she waits a few minutes then goes to talk to Aly. “ Aly what’s wrong?” says the teacher. Aly shakes her head and asks the teacher if she can work alone for the project . The teacher looks at Aly “ i know moving into a new school is hard, and so is being the new kid but don’t worry things will get better”. Aly takes a deep breath and explains to the teacher that she doesn't like it here and everything is different from her old school. She isn't eating properly or getting enough sleep. She used to have so many friends and now that she has to pick a partner it gives her a funny feeling inside.
