Storyboard Text

  • Today's Reading Concept: Character Traits and Interactions
  • Ugh, character traits and interactions are so hard! I just don't get it.
  • I can help you with character traits and interactions!
  • You can?
  • ding Concept: Traits and Interactions
  • Ava, along with the rest of the class, ran out to the recess field. Ava was going to play soccer with all of her friends, but instead walked over to a bench, where the new girl was sitting alone, staring at the ground. Ava invited the girl to play soccer with her. The next day, Ava didn't need to find the new girl; she was already on the soccer field, laughing and talking.
  • As you can see on the chalkboard, the underlined parts of the story show the character traits and interactions of Ava and the new girl.
  • Oh, so some character traits of Ava are friendly and outgoing, and the new girl is lonely.  But what are the character interactions?
  • Well, Ava is outgoing and kind, and the new girl is lonely. But the new girl doesn't stay lonely, because she now plays with Ava and Ava's friends.
  • That's right!
  • Oh, so character interactions are how the characters influence each other, because Ava's actions changed that the new girl was lonely.
  • What We Learned From the Story: -Ava is kind and outgoing. -The new girl was very lonely. -Ava interacted with the new girl by inviting her to play. -From then on, the new girl wasn't lonely.
  • Thank you, Mrs. Tyler for helping me with character traits and interactions! Now I know I'll get an A+ on the quiz!
