  • My friends, today we are learning about Rosh HaShanah.
  • Friends, you can’t hear me if you are all talking! Please stop talking. Are you listening?
  • We need to find a better way to calm ourselves down and pay attention when I am speaking. We are going to pick a word, a secret word, that only our class knows. And when you hear that word it means “close your peh and put your eynayim on me.” Who has a word to suggest?
  • Poop! (Morah Becca: Thank you for choosing, but we need a better word!) Puppy! Challah! Elbow!
  • Those are all great suggestions! Now, let’s take a vote to see what word we can all agree on to be our secret word. If you want the secret word to be “puppy” raise your hand. Challah? Elbow?
  • Great work, my friends! You have chosen the word “challah” to be our secret word. Remember, when you hear me say “challah” you must close your peh and put your eynayim on me.
  • The Next Day...
  • Thank you for listening my friends. “Challah” is our special word that tells you to stop what you’re doing and find my eyes. Now let's sing "Tapuchim Udvash!"
  • CHALLAH!
