Jews were sent to live in ghettos.
Why must we live here?
Where are they taking us?
They were then transported to the concentration camps.
Why must this happen to us, father?
Elie and his father, along with other Jews, suffered for months upon months.
All the Jews were forced to march in the freezing cold, without stopping. Those that did, would be either shot or trampled.
No father no! You must eat and try to get better! You can't leave me!
When they arrived at the new camp, Elie's father could no longer go on. He was taken from the barracks and taken to a crematorium.
Elie and other Jews were finally freed after the liberating army freed them from Hitler's rule.
