Storyboard Text

  • Gravity is a force where two bodies of mass are drawn toward each other
  • An example of gravity would be if I threw a ball up and it dropped straight down
  • Something magnetic may have a north and south connection and those objects are touching
  • Let me give you an example... if I took a magnet and stuck it to the fridge, it would stay on the fridge and not fall off
  • One example of a spring in action would be if someone was on a trampoline and jumping up and down moving the springs, elastic too.
  • A force exerted by a compressed or stretched spring upon any object that is attached to it
  • When you drop a ball into water and the object is floating, a force is acting upon it and that is why it is floating
  • Do you know what a buoyant force is? ... it's an upward force exerted by any fluid upon a body placed in it
  • An example that friction is being used would be if someone is pushing a box to the right and then someone comes over and pushes the box to the left
  • Friction can be known as the resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another
  • An example would be if my hair was wet and I took a blow dryer and pushed the hair
  • A push is a force that moves an object away from something
