  • Plot Structure/ Themes
  • A good plot structure and theme can help the reader understand a novel
  • Poetry
  • -Sonnet -Blank verse -Free verse -Ballad -Dramatic -Lyric
  • I am glad people don't talk like Shakespeare anymore
  • Poetry is a dramatic way to express feelings and is also a hard way of writing. Different poems require different rules.
  • Literature circles/Working with others
  • I also noticed that theme is very important in a novel
  • I have noticed in our book that the author is omniscient
  • We learned how to plot a small story. a story follows a 1. Exposition 2. Rising Action 3.Climax 4. Falling Action 5. Resolution. Theme is also very important it shows the big picture of a story
  • writing/Themes
  • I wish my book had a main theme
  • Not all books need a clear theme
  • Poetry has been around since mankind could read and write. It has a very profound mark in history. This year we learned about the rules of poetry and how to write six different poems. I did a blank verse poem it follows no rules but it follows a heartbeat pattern
  • I like it.
  • Grammar/Literary Terms
  • Know when a sentence is incomplete!
  • In literature circles i read a book called speed of light. Our group discussion were good. we talked about the author and the theme of a novel. talking about a book helps improve social skills and i enjoyed this unit.
  • Share your learning
  • I know how to rhyme words together
  • So what types of poetry do you kids know
  • Themes are the big picture of a novel. It can make a novel easier to read and understand. Writing is a broad topic but in just writing in general i have improved a lot due to this class. I have learned many things and correcting a lot of my writing problems. I have become more confident with certain writing techniques as well
  • In this unit we found how to identify a sentence clause. We also learned how to insert and use quotations commas and semi-colons. I enjoyed this unit; however it was repetitive at times.
  • I could share some of my learning i would share how i learned about writing fluency. My writing has improved incredibly by using everything i have learned this year.I also learned many poetry types even though i wont pursue a future in poetry I'm still glad i know about the rules and types of poems. When we taught the grade 5's i feel it helped me learn and memorize the content we were learning. A drawback was not all the grade fives were easy to communicate with and therefore not able to teach them.
