She is at home doing her normal routine just washing dishes waiting for her husband to come home.
Matilda's husband comes home with an envelope and its an invitation to a fancy ball and dinner but she refuses to go because she does not feel good if she doesn't have fancy dress or any jewelry.
Matilda's husband had a great idea of her going to her friends house to borrow some jewelry and loves it so much.
As they leave the ball they find a carriage and get settled but she utters in shock to find out her beautiful necklace was no longer on her and she is worried and her husband is very confused as to how she has lost the necklace.
M. loisel went around askingpeople for money so they could pay a whole thirty six thousand francs to replace the necklace they had lost.
They finally had enough money to buy a new necklace and they go to her friends house who had the necklace to return the new one but her friend starts to get happy and they are confused because her friend explains that the necklace they borrowed was fake and they did not need to pay 36 thousand francs only about 500 to buy a fake one again.
