  • 1. Exposition
  • 2. Rising Action
  • 3. Climax
  • Doodle is born all red and shriveled and everyone thinks he is going to die besides Aunt Nicey (the person standing next to the lady in the chair) who delivered him. They realize he is not going to die, but will have limitations.
  • 4. Falling Action
  • Doodle pushes his limits and struggles with physical activity such as walking, running, swimming, etc. His brother is trying to teach him so that he will fit in with the other kids.
  • 5. Resolution
  • Doodle was tired and scared in the storm so he followed his brother. His brother or the narrator realized that the faster he walked, the faster Doodle walked. So, he began running and he ran far away from Doodle leaving him behind on the ground.
  • 6. Conflict
  • The brother waits for Doodle to catch up, but when he sees no sight of Doodle, he runs back to try to find him.
  • The brother realizes Doodle was dead and covers him from the rain. He feels sad because he pushed his limitations to far which caused his brother's death.
  • Man vs. Self- The man vs. self is the narrator vs. his pride because the narrator only helped his brother (Doodle) for his own good, but he eventually realizes that he is not doing the right thing which takes place in his personal pride.
