  • Gatsby tries to hard to make Daisy his girl again when she is married.

  • Hubris: Extreme Pride
  • He spends a lot of his money and is very flashy with everything and throws huge parties every weekend because he knows he has a big house and is rich.
  • Peripeteia: Reversal of fortune
  • Jay realizes that he can't have Daisy because she is married.
  • Anagnorisis: When the hero makes a critical discovery
  • Jay Gatsby discovers that Daisy's cousin Nick lives next to his house. Gatsby can use Nick to get to Daisy.
  • Nemesis: Fate that cannot be reversed
  • Gatsby lets Daisy drive his car to calm her down because she is upset and she runs over Myrtle which leads to Gatsby's death
  • Catharsis: Tone (Pity or Fear) the audience is left with after the hero's fall
  • The audience pities Gatsby because he gets killed for something he was falsely accused of and all he wanted was to love Daisy.
